The Training and Career Guidance Office at Oman College of Management and Technology (OCMT) successfully organized an insightful and practical workshop titled “Strategic Resume Design for Business Professionals” on Sunday, November 2, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM in Room AC-115. The session was led by Ms. Ibtisam AL-Harthi, who brought her expertise to guide students in crafting targeted, polished résumés tailored to today’s competitive business environment.
This workshop aimed to equip students especially those in business and management disciplines with the skills and knowledge to build impactful résumés that effectively communicate their qualifications, experiences, and career aspirations. Ms. Ibtisam emphasized strategic formatting, clarity of content, and alignment with job market expectations.
During the session, students learned the key components of a professional résumé, including how to write powerful objective statements, highlight achievements using action verbs, and structure content for maximum impact. Real-life examples and best practices were shared to help participants avoid common mistakes and enhance the professionalism of their documents.
A significant portion of the workshop focused on how to tailor résumés for different job roles and industries, use keywords from job descriptions to pass Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS), and incorporate quantifiable accomplishments to stand out. Students were encouraged to bring drafts of their résumés for constructive feedback and revision tips.
This hands-on, engaging workshop provided an excellent opportunity for students to gain clarity and confidence in presenting themselves to future employers. The interactive format allowed for thoughtful discussion, individualized advice, and actionable takeaways that students can immediately apply in their job search efforts.
This initiative reflects OCMT’s commitment to preparing its students not just academically, but also professionally. The Training and Career Guidance Office continues to play a vital role in supporting students’ career readiness through targeted workshops and mentoring sessions that bridge the gap between education and employment.
