Oman College of Management and Technology (OCMT) inaugurated its latest research initiative, "Developing Quality Learning Environments – A Case Study on OCMT," funded by the Ministry of Higher Education, Research, and Innovation (MoHERI) under grant BFP/RGP/EHR/23/492.

The event began with a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by Dr. Hazem Migdady, the College Dean, symbolizing the official launch of the newly designed classroom. The ceremony was attended by the Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs, Head of the Department of Design, faculty members, and students.

Led by Dr. Lamiaa, the project integrates neuro-architecture concepts to optimize classroom environments, enhancing student engagement, learning experiences, and emotional well-being. Dr. Lamiaa highlighted three key objectives:

  1. Enhancing student engagement and academic performance through an optimized learning space.
  2. Improving course delivery by evaluating classroom configurations.
  3. Studying the impact of classroom design on students' behavior and emotions.

The upgraded classroom features reorganized spaces, ergonomic furniture, improved lighting, biophilic design, and advanced technology. A Smart TV with an Interactive Display has been installed to facilitate digital collaboration, dynamic presentations, and multimedia learning experiences.

Students shared positive feedback, noting increased engagement and creativity since using the redesigned classroom this semester. The presence of OCMT leadership underscored the institution’s commitment to innovative learning environments for instructors and students.

OCMT continues to encourage faculty members to pursue research initiatives that enhance teaching and learning quality through MoHERI funding.
