In line with the vision of HM Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, may God protect him and grant him long life, which emphasizes the important role of youth in the national development process, and their empowerment in education, learning, and scientific research, the Oman College of Management and Technology recently hosted HE Eng. Saeed bin Hamoud bin Saeed al Maawali, the esteemed Minister of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology. The event featured an open meeting with students from the college specializing in Computer Science and Management Information Systems.
During the meeting, His Excellency highlighted the government's dedication to advancing the transportation, communications, and information technology sectors, considering them fundamental pillars in achieving Oman Vision 2040. He emphasized the crucial role that modern technologies play in strengthening the national economy and preparing for the future. His Excellency also discussed various government policies, programs, and initiatives aimed at supporting innovation and entrepreneurship, along with enhancing the work culture and the laws and regulations that govern this vital sector.
The meeting was marked by an engaging and insightful dialogue, during which students raised questions regarding the future of the digital sector in the Sultanate, challenges facing the job market, and opportunities in fields like artificial intelligence and digital transformation. His Excellency stressed the importance for students to acquire modern skills and take advantage of available training opportunities, underlining that success in the information technology sector demands dedication, persistence, and creativity.
At the conclusion of the meeting, His Excellency expressed his gratitude for the college’s administration and deanship for organizing this valuable discussion, which helped raise student awareness of the latest developments in the technology sector.
