On February 26, 2025, the college organized a field trip for the Interior Design Society titled "Heritage of Muttrah: Harmony Between Omani Identity and Innovation in Design," with the participation of 18 students. The trip aimed to enhance the students' understanding of the relationship between interior design and Omani cultural identity through visits to some of Muttrah's heritage and architectural sites.
The journey began with a visit to Khouri House, a living example of traditional Omani architecture. The students explored elements such as wooden mashrabiyas and carved doors, discussing how to integrate these into modern interior designs.
The students then moved on to Muttrah Souq, where they observed the integration of interior design with the vibrant market environment and how Omani identity is maintained in the design of commercial spaces using local materials.
The trip concluded with a visit to Muska Café, which blends modern design with Omani traditions. The students discussed how to preserve cultural identity in contemporary designs.
The trip contributed to enhancing the students' understanding of integrating Omani heritage into contemporary interior design and the importance of preserving cultural identity. The students also participated in interactive activities, including documenting their observations and reflecting on their experiences.
