Held on 3rd June 2024, Oman College of Management and Technology (OCMT) recently hosted an International Conference on Sustainable Design & Artificial Intelligence Challenges & Opportunities (SDAICO-2024). Bringing together scholars, experts, students, and industry professionals from around the world, the conference aimed to foster collaboration and explore the latest developments in these rapidly evolving fields.
The conference highlighted the importance of sustainable design practices and the potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enhance design processes and business operations. Participants delved into topics such as AI in building design, human-computer interaction, and the use of digital data for architectural projects.
Two keynote speeches by industry experts set the tone for the conference. Dr. Naima Benkari, Associate Professor at Sultan Qaboos University, and Eng. Dhay Aldhawyan, Former Head of the Center of Urban Design and Planning at McKinsey & Company shared their insights on the challenges and opportunities in sustainable design and AI.
Researchers and professionals from 14 higher education institutions across Oman, Jordan, India, and the UAE introduced 26 research papers. The presentations encompassed a variety of themes within the conference’s two tracks: Artificial Intelligence and Creative Design and Artificial Intelligence and Future of Design Education and Business.
All accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings. The conference outcomes are expected to contribute to the advancement of knowledge in sustainable design and AI, while also promoting collaboration and networking among researchers, practitioners, and students.
The SDAICO-2024 conference successfully showcased the latest advancements in sustainable design and AI and provided a platform for participants to exchange ideas, forge connections, and shape the future of these fields.
