In a proud moment for the Oman College of Management and Technology (OCMT), Dr. Vishal Dattana, faculty member and Head of the Technical Support Department, has made headlines by securing a UK Design Registration for a breakthrough invention in green energy infrastructure.
On April 4, 2025, the UK Intellectual Property Office officially granted Design Registration No. 6434146 for a project titled:
Hybrid Solar-Electric Charging Station with AI-Based Load Management for EV Infrastructure
Co-developed with a team of international researchers, Dr. Dattana’s innovative design integrates solar and electric energy sources with artificial intelligence to manage energy loads at electric vehicle (EV) charging stations. The system is engineered to reduce energy waste, optimize energy distribution, and promote sustainable urban transportation.
The registration, filed under Class 13, Subclass 02 of the International Design Classification (relating to equipment for electricity production and transformation), highlights the invention’s relevance to the next generation of eco-friendly EV infrastructure.
This recognition is not just a personal achievement, Dr. Dattana commented but a proud moment for OCMT and for Oman’s rising presence in global green technology and sustainable innovation.
The accomplishment reinforces OCMT’s reputation as a center for technological advancement, environmental responsibility, and academic excellence, inspiring both students and researchers to think beyond borders.
Congratulations to Dr. Vishal Dattana for this prestigious international recognition and for contributing meaningfully to the global conversation on clean energy and smart mobility.
